Our journey so far...

It all began in 2013 when Rahul and Steve founded MyPain

In 2013 we founded MyPain. During the first two years, we established a team of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and scientists to improve the quality and access of pain care through research.

Our initial focus was on developing a software we called MyPain® Impact, which captured the experiences of people with chronic pain through validated questionnaires.

As healthcare professionals ourselves, we recognised that accessing high quality, evidence-based, safe and effective care was a huge problem for people with chronic pain as the waiting times from referral to treatment were usually between 6 to 60 weeks!

Through research and development we came up with a way to use technology as an interface between healthcare professionals and people with chronic pain to deliver a high quality pain management programme online that was available to everyone, guided by healthcare professionals.

2014 to 2016 - Research and development

Producing high quality, evidence-based, safe and effective online pain management always has and always will be our main focus.

We ensure research development on scientific enquiry and evidence is at the core of what we do at MyPain, and this was built into all our development programmes.

Our team collaborated with key scientific opinion leaders in the area of pain management and pain research to develop a two-phase research and development plan.

2017 to 2019 - Version 1.0 and 2.0 of the MyPain® app

Version 1.0 of the MyPain® app was completed in spring 2016.

A pilot project at The Royal Berkshire Hospital and in the private sector enabled early user testing to take place in a controlled manner to gain valuable user-feedback.

This helped us make significant improvements to the user experience and user interface, improving the content, design, and modernising the technology architecture of the software, making it significantly faster and secure.

With Brexit, we moved our servers from the EU to the UK to ensure compliance with the Information Commission Office guidance.

We have now released version 2.0 which is ready for clinical use.

2020 - We are there!
